A brand new shop selling the official Glasgow 2018 European Championships merchandise has opened its doors in George Square today. With less than 50 days until the biggest sporting event since the Commonwealth Games begins, the buzz is really building across the city.

Sports fans and families can now get their hands on a range of top-quality merchandise to get in the spirit and show their support for the Championships. The range will grow as the Championships approach and will include men’s, women’s and kids’ Ts, polo shirts, hoodies, jackets plus exclusive sport-specific apparel for all Glasgow 2018 sports – Aquatics, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon. There really will be something for everyone.

Bonnie the Seal was on-hand today to help local kids cut the ribbon and officially open the store. She also showcased her very own range of Bonnie plush toys in 3 different sizes along with a variety of other accessories including keyrings and pin badges.

Colin Hartley, Glasgow 2018 Championships Director said,“The official merchandise shop opening its doors in George Square is a significant milestone in our journey towards the Championships. This is a fantastic city-centre outlet which, at Championships’ time will have the full range of Glasgow 2018 clothing and accessories. Sports fans of all ages can pop in and buy items to demonstrate their support and, of course, fans of our popular mascot Bonnie have the opportunity to buy their very own toy version!”

The George Square shop is located on the site of Festival 2018 - the fun-filled programme of cultural attractions which runs alongside the sporting events. The store will be open 10am-6pm daily until the Championships begin, when the opening hours will be extended. A second outlet will open soon in Glasgow’s Central Station.

Don’t worry if you can’t get to the shops in person as the full range will also be available online at www.glasgow2018.com/shop
