This Christmas season is going to be different for everyone this year. We are calling on the people of the city and further afield, to join us and Love Glasgow this Christmas.  We will be encouraging civic pride and asking people to think about how they can support businesses, jobs and the local economy over this crucial trading period, whilst still enjoying an authentic Glasgow Christmas experience.

For anyone living in Glasgow able to visit George Square while remaining within current guidance, the city will once again be a magical place with traditional decorations including the Christmas tree, lights and crib. Every evening in December until January 2, there will be a new festive lighting installation at Glasgow City Chambers which will see the iconic building illuminated with a beautiful colour wash, Christmas lights and lasers beamed from the roof.

Lighting displays have always created a magical atmosphere throughout the city and this year the streets will still sparkle with the much loved canopies of light and festive features.

Glasgow Life will lead a campaign to showcase the range of Glasgow festive experiences that can be enjoyed safely and within guidance as well as new and innovative digital initiatives. Via our Glasgow Loves Christmas digital channels we will provide a “one stop shop” for information on virtual citywide entertainment, ideas for unique Glasgow gifts, inspiration for days out compliant with public health restrictions, top tips from Glasgow hospitality businesses and virtual ways to enjoy milestone moments on the run up to Christmas Day.

With the ongoing uncertainty we are building a flexible campaign which can adapt to changing conditions whist remaining a positive voice for the city.  Communications will be aligned with, and underpin the importance of public health restrictions.

As we progress through the weeks, we will also be developing content features and articles including:

  • Glasgow Gift Guide
  • Virtual Festive Fun
  • Winter Walks in Glasgow
  • Festive Entertainment
  • Festive Dining at Home
